Glendale got lucky when Adriana joined FIT4MOM. She is a relaxed and loving parent, a caring friend and a positive light in our classes. Even after a long break from exercise, Adriana was all in from the word "go." She pushes herself to do her best at every class... and it's more than just the workout. She comes to class with a bright smile and an open attitude, ready to make friends and grow our village.
Congratulations, Adriana! We'd also like to thank Spa Le La for giving Adriana a gift certificate!
Where are you originally from?
I'm a SoCal native, born and raised in Los Angeles.
Tell us a little about your workout buddy!
My daughter Natalia is 2 years old, she loves to go to the Americana and see the "Big water fountain" and her new friends. My son Alexander is 11 months old, he is more of a people watcher right now. He can't wait to walk so he can run around with all the other kids after class.
How has becoming a mother changed you?
Oh boy, in so many ways I'm sure. I've learned that my body, mind and soul can be pushed much farther than I ever thought possible. I'm stronger, more patient and have a better understanding of what other parents, like my amazing mother, have gone through.
When did you join FIT4MOM and what classes do you attend?
I think my son was about 5 or 6 months old when I started. My first class was a Stroller Strides class with Grace. I loved it! I was in desperate need of getting out of the house and meeting new people. Grace made me feel totally comfortable and was so encouraging.
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?
I love the fact I can go workout and take my kids with me. I get a chance to meet other great women and moms and the kids are learning how to play with others. Craft days are a special treat for them. They always look forward to doing something new.
How has FIT4MOM changed your lifestyle choices?
While I always try to eat healthy, I do occasionally splurge. FIT4MOM has helped me stay on track, keep my splurging to a minimum and help me provide a good example of health and fitness to my children.
Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village." Is it important for moms to join a village?
I think having as much support as you can get is a huge bonus for us moms. I wouldn't know what to do without the support of my family and my new mom friends that I have made. Simply having someone to talk to about everyday mom stuff is priceless and keeps me sane.
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
Before becoming a mom I worked as a chef cooking for up to 300 people a day. Now, I make sure 4 people (and 2 pets) are taken care of get all they need and want on a daily basis.....so much harder than cooking for 300!
What is your favorite family activity?
Well, beside going to the LA Zoo and visiting "Phillip " the giraffe. We enjoy going for walks and are working up to hiking with the kids and our Boston Terrier. We love the outdoors and can't wait to go camping this year!
What advice would you give a new mom?
I think the first few months can be very overwhelming sometimes. Some advise that was given to me that I took to heart was that they change everyday and if you don't take the time to notice all the new things that they do it will feel like time is flying by. So to any new my I would say take the time between changing diapers, feedings, and crying to enjoy every new moment because they are precious. Also, just breathe ;)
